On Value and Relationships

  • Send a personal video — Tell them in the video that you were thinking of them and that you appreciate them.
  • Send birthday cards — Acknowledge them on Facebook or by email. Sending an actual birthday card in the mail goes a long way.
  • Do a simple check-in — You can do this via text, email, or a phone call. Say, “I just wanted to check-in and see how things were going.”
  • Send an unexpected gift — Send books, articles, YouTube videos, or anything you know your customer would like.
  • Send Thank You Notes — I’m a very big believer in the handwritten thank you note. I learned this from legendary sales trainer Tom Hopkins 30 years ago. After a phone call, personal meeting, or for any reason… a handwritten thank you note goes a long way.
  • Make a phone call — My good friend Michael Levine taught me this valuable lesson when we first met. In a world where everything is digital, hearing the voice of someone on the other end of the phone who says “I was just thinking about you” brings comfort.
